About Matthew
Matthew Quevedo is a dedicated neighborhood leader, lifelong San José resident, and passionate advocate for making sure City Hall works better for all of our neighborhoods.
Born and raised in South San José, Matthew attended Hacienda Elementary School, Castillero Middle School, and Pioneer High School.
Matthew lives in San José’s Northside neighborhood with his wife, A’Dreana, and their sons, James and Atticus. He graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Political Science, laying the foundation for his career in public service and policy advocacy.
As Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Neighborhood Outreach in the Office of Mayor Matt Mahan, Matthew leads initiatives to strengthen neighborhoods, address public safety, and end street homelessness. His work focuses on building grassroots connections and fostering a stronger relationship between residents and City Hall.
Previously, as Chief of Staff to Councilmember Matt Mahan, Matthew helped launch neighborhood associations and spearheaded constituent service improvements. His dedication to transportation and housing policy during his tenure at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group contributed to securing billions in funding for critical Bay Area infrastructure projects, including BART to San José and Caltrain electrification.
Matthew’s experience spans nonprofit work at Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley, where he coordinated home repairs for low-income residents, to managing high-profile campaigns, including the largest mayoral campaign in San José’s history.
A proud resident of San José, Matthew is deeply committed to his community. He has served as President of the San Jose Downtown Residents Association and the VEP Community Association. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family.
